If you were me, which box would you check?

Recently, when applying for a job, I see the question asking if I have a disability and I hesitate. I used to check “yes” without a second thought given my authentic nature (I have ASD), but lately I’m not sure if doing so helps me or holds me back. 

I was always under the impression that claiming a disability with a potential employer puts you on a path to inclusion and checking the box on the application would lead to some accommodations, at a minimum. Given the shift away from DEI programs this year, I am wondering if this is still the case? 

Despite potential challenges around disclosing or not, I keep trying and applying. That said, I’d appreciate any insights on selecting “yes” vs “I do not want to answer”... what would you check?
