Find A Grave

One of my favorite hobbies is around an app named Find a Grave, a free online database and community-driven website where users can search for and contribute information about people's final resting places.

It is the largest international "graving community" and allows users to create memorials and request people help them by adding photos of the headstones of their loved ones. I started fulfilling Find A Grave requests in 2022 and to date have filled over 600 requests in four different countries. (See pictures below.)

What I really like about Find A Grave is that not only does it feel good when you find a requested headstone (like a scavenger hunt), it also makes me happy knowing I have helped people be more connected to the memory of their families and loved ones. Also, I love receiving thank yous.

Family Tree

I wanted to keep track of who the people in my family were so I decided to make a family tree. I learned a lot about my ancestors through the website Find a Grave and I found out that cemeteries were filled with requests where people wanted photos of gravestones. I decided to visit cemeteries to fulfill those requests and I felt proud to make people so happy.
